Shahid Al Hafed (refugee camps) Sept 4, 2011 (SPS) - The Council of Ministers strongly condemned Saturday the serious violations of human rights perpetuated against the Saharawis in the occupied territories of Western Sahara, especially El Aaiun and Boujdour, hailing struggles of the Saharawi masses in the occupied territories and south of Morocco, in a statement concluded a meeting chaired by the President of the Republic and Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz.The statement asserted that the Saharawi masses in the occupied territories “have consistently made continued heroics in the face of campaigns of brutal repression and solid blockade, as well as acts of abduction, torture and intimidation,” expressing strong condemnation to all gross violations of human rights carried on by the Moroccan occupation authorities, which recently and dramatically increased in the occupied cities of El Aaiun and Boujdour.
The Council recalled to the case of the Martyr Said Danbar, whose corpse is yet to bury due to the intransigence of the Morocco occupation authorities and its refusal to reveal the circumanstances behind his assassination and to assume full responsibility for the crime.
It also noted that Morocco’s continuation to practice the same repressive policies, which accompanied its military invasion of Western Sahara on Oct 31, 1975, its attack on Gdeim Izik camp on Nov 8, 2010 and others, confirms “the reality of its intransigence and refusal to implement UN Charter and resolutions as well as the international humanitarian law, calling in this regard on the international community to immediately take all necessary steps, measures and sanctions on Morocco to stop its violations of human rights and its looting to the Saharawi natural resources.
The Council reiterated the call to accelerate the establishment of UN mechanism enabling MINURSO to protect and monitor human rights in Western Sahara and report about it, release Yahia Mohamed Hafed and all the Saharawi political detainees in the Moroccan prisons, reveal the fate of more than 651 Saharawi missings and remove the Moroccan military wall (Berm) which contains millions of internationally banned mines, including anti-personnel.
